How to brew Kichi Matcha

A Simple Daily Ritual

From traditional bowls to modern cups, matcha has been prepared in many ways over centuries.

What matters is understanding the intention behind each style.

Usucha (thin matcha) - daily ceremonial style

Add 2 bamboo scoops(chashaku) or 1-2g of matcha to a bowl.

Pour 60-80ml of hot water (75-80*C).

Whisk briskly using a bamboo whisk (chasen) in a gentle zig-zag motion.

Continue until light and foamy.

RESULT: Bright, balanced, and refreshing - with a smooth body, gentle umami, and a clean, lingering finish on the palate.

Modern Everyday Preperation

A simple, flexible method for preparing matcha at home, work, or on the go - without traditional tools.

Add 1-2g of matcha to a cup or shaker.

Add approximately 30ml of warm water.

Stir or shake until smooth.

Top up with water or milk to taste.

Matcha Latte

Prepare matcha using the modern method

Heat milk of choice seperately

Pour milk slowly over matcha

Sweeten lightly if desired

Dosage & Personal Taste

Matcha is personal.

A lighter bowl emphasises clarity and sweetness, while a stronger preperation brings depth and umami.

Begin gently and adjust to taste.

Care & Storage

Store matcha in a cool, dry place away from light.

Reseal tightly after use to preserve freshness

A Closing Note

Matcha is best enjoyed without rushing.

Whether prepared ceremonially or simply, the ritual invites a moment of pause
